Gas detection

The use and production of particularly hazardous substances in industrial processes is increasing, in particular, highly-flammable, toxic and oxygen gases.

The occasional release of such gases is almost inevitable. However, this obviously implies a potential danger for both employees and local residents. Worldwide incidents involving choking, explosions and fatalities are a constant reminder of this problem. Therefore, in most industries, safety procedures exist to control the risks to personnel and the industrial plant (building/equipment, etc.). Using early warning systems such as gas detectors is an important part of that. They provide much more time to take corrective or protective measures.

For standards relating to gas detection devices, please refer to the relevant equipment data sheets. A listing of all applicable standards is not relevant and would beyond the scope of this document.
